SOLD OUT!

19 09 2011

Q & A, again.

19 09 2011

You guys are excellent question askers.

  • Questions: Holy bejeezums are there any SIP tickets left!?
  • Answer: Yes, but you better have cat-like reflexes and get your online ticket quickly because they are on pace to sell out wicked soon. Last word was that Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier and Hostel Tevere in Warren each had a handful left, so perhaps tonight’s the night you should belly up to one of these fine establishments and get a ticket with your beer…
  • Question: I have a ticket, but I didn’t get it online. Where do I go when I get there?
  • Answer: We will be checking ALL tickets in the fun way: Alphabetically, (blame it on Irene folks… sorry!) We will have multiple lines to move you through quickly, but whether you won a ticket, purchased one online or at the Hostel or TPT, head to the line your last name fits in. Tickets will be listed under the last name of the purchaser, so if the team tickets are under your name, please make sure your whole posse is with you when you enter. ALSO: You MUST HAVE VALID ID to get in. It’s a beer fest. I will send my mother back to the car to get her ID, so no sighing and rolling of eyes when we turn you around too. Thanks in advance for your patience!
  • Question: Pleeeeeease tell me you guys are gonna have extra tokens!?!
  • Answer: Great news! We are selling extra tokens this year! Finally! We are still dialing in the exact way this will go down, but rest assured that if 40 ounces of high octane craft beer isn’t enough for you, you can have a little more.
  • Question: What will the weather be like?
  • Answer: I never get tired of this question. It will be “Vermonty.” This means that absolutely anything is possible. I’m routing for high 60s and sunshine. In fact, let’s all channel our inner-hippies for a second and visualize kickin’ it at SIPtemberfest, under sunshine and foliage, drinking the best beers, listening to amazing music, stuffing our faces with delicious food, laughing, dancing, riding the single chair…Man, it’s a beautiful day!… all that good stuff.
  • Question: What should we bring?
  • Answer: Excellent question. Aside from the aforementioned valid ID, bring a little cash for food and a t-shirt. You can bring your well behaved, leashed dog, but please don’t forget a $@!#bag – thanks. A camera or smart phone so you can snap photos and post them instantly to Facebook bragging to all your friends that you are at SIPtemberfest! You can also bring friends who aren’t drinking – it’s FREE to come hangout!
  • Question: Why didn’t you invite my favorite brewer?
  • Answer: We invite all Vermont brewers that we know of. It’s entirely up to them whether they come or not.  Sometimes its scheduling, sometimes its supply and demand, sometimes it’s trips to Europe… But if you don’t see a brewer you were hoping to see in our line up, let them know you’d love to see them here in the future!
  • Question: What’s the word on the Shuttle?
  • Answer: This our way of getting you from one epic party to another! Alpine Limo will be running a shuttle 11am – 1pm and 4pm-6pm, looping from Hostel Tevere to MRG and back. This is a FREE service, but for good karma, please tip the party-bus driver for making your life easy! We might be adding a stop to the loop so stay tuned…

The Last Winner is…

18 09 2011

The final winning ticket goes to (drum roll) ML McLaughlin who entered several times, but won with this one:

Bus us to the show * Dancing and drinking with friends * Alpine Limousine

Congratulations ML! There will be a SIPVIP package waiting for you under your name at will call! See you soon!

…And just like that, you are left with only one way to get tickets: to buy them. You can still find the precious few that remain at each of our ticket outlets, Hostel Tevere in Warren, Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier and online. If for some strange reason we don’t sell out before, we will sell any remaining tickets at the gate, but at the rate they are selling right now, I wouldn’t count on that…

Teaser: The Beer Menu is aaaaaaaaaaaalmost done… Just sayin’…

Cheers,

m

Beer Infographic of the Week #11

15 09 2011

All about global production and consumption this week. How many of these countries have you had beer from/in?

Breaking News!

14 09 2011

This just in! The 2011 SIPtemberfest will have a limited amount of beer from… (drum roll) The Alchemist!

Yes folks, the same people who just opened a kick-butt cannery and then suffered a brutal hit from Irene, are going to be at the 2011 SIP with  a “limited supply” of their amazing beer. Something is better than nothing, right?! What they bring and how much of it is still to be announced, so I will advise that you make them your first SIP when you get through the gate.

Tickets are starting to get low so get yours before I say ‘I told you so!” For $25 you get a souvenir glass and 10 tasting tokens. More tokens may be available for purchase but that is still to be determined. Purchase tickets online, or from a real, live, cool person at Hostel Tevere in Warren or Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier.

Q & A

13 09 2011

My inbox has been flooded (poor choice of words) with SIPtemberfest questions of late.  But for all the questions you have, I have answers. Here they are, in no particular order:

  • Question: I’ve heard about all the awful flooding in Vermont. Is foliage cancelled this year?
  • Answer: Hell No! Vermont took a beating, there’s no doubt. But we are tough cookies and with the help of our neighbors near and far, most areas that were hit by Irene are getting back to normal; many closed roads are now open, many closed businesses are back to work. And even if all that wasn’t true, foliage will never be cancelled! In fact, the leaves are just starting to tease us with a little color which bodes well for SIPtemberfest – Sept 24 should be excellent foliage viewing!
  • Question: I love the beer line up, but those aren’t all Vermont Beers. Or Beers, even…
  • Answer: Yes. True. SIPtemberfest is a Vermont beer tasting but we like to invite an out-of-state brewer or two to join us each year, because it’s the neighborly thing to do. This year, we welcome Smuttynose from over yonder in New Hampshire. Plus we might have a second out-of-stater to boot, so stay tuned. And Yes. True. We have two non-beer brewers in our Brewer’s line-up: Woodchuck Hard Cider and, new this year, Vodka from Smuggler’s Notch Distillery. Both offer a refreshing break from the hops, but still offer the quality and flavor we all love. After all, this is SIPtemberfest, not JustBeertemberfest.
  • Question: Are you going to have those super cool t-shirts again?
  • Answer: Oh yeah, you betcha! We will have them in a new color scheme, but we will have men’s and women’s cuts again. Plus we still have a couple t shirts from last year that you can snag for bargain prices!
  • Question: Is Phish playing at SIPtemberfest?
  • Answer: They are certainly welcome to! But if they are, they haven’t told me yet. We will have local favorites The Gulch and Abby Jenne & the Enablers. These two rockin’ Vermont bands that will challenge your dancing-while-holding-a-beer skills, so while you’re at Phish you should practice up.
  • Question: Can I bring my dog to SIPtemberfest?
  • Answer: We welcome well behaved dogs with responsible owners. This mean Fido can come if you keep him leashed, make sure he doesn’t bother anyone and pick up after him (because nobody like stepping in that $#!&.)
  • Question: What if I’m not drinking? Do I still have to buy a ticket?
  • Answer: It’s totally FREE  to come up to Mad River Glen, hangout and listen to music! This goes for designated drivers and anyone else who wants to come up and have a good time but not drink (examples include under-aged folks, pregnant wives, Alpine Limo bus drivers, dogs…) The Single Chair will be running for Foliage rides too!
  • Question: Is the Sausage guy gonna be back?
  • Answer: You know it! Joey from the Mad Taco will be doing his sausage thing again this year along with the General Stark’s Pub. Back by popular demand this year, we will also have the Skinny Pancake! Food is not included in the price of your ticket so remember to bring a little cash. (There is an ATM on site too.)
  • Question: How much are tickets and will SIPtemberfest sell out?
  • Answer: Tickets are $25 each and include 10 tastings and a souvenir glass. And will they sell out? Hard tellin’, not knowin’, but if the last two years are any indication, I’d say probably. You can get tickets online or in Warren at Hostel Tevere and Montpelier at Three Penny Taproom. If we don’t sell out in advance of Sept 24, we will sell tickets at the gate on the day of.
  • Question: Where’s a good place to stay if I don’t want to drive home?
  • Answer: The Mad River Valley has tons of inns and bed & breakfasts that would be awesome places to stay. You can check out the lodging listing at our Chamber of Commerce for more info. We will also have Alpine Limo running shuttle service throughout the day so perhaps if you talk to/tip the driver, you might be able to score a ride!
